A recognised worldwide market research company has just reported on the manhole cover and grating industry within the UK. The results, while not necessarily producing any major shocks, do make interesting reading. It analysed the businesses of the top seven suppliers in the UK, two of which were specialist merchant businesses. The report is the result of interviews carried out throughout the industry, including those with end users, specifiers, and even competitors.

It is a commercial report carried out on behalf of a major world player and as such we cannot reproduce it here. However, we can highlight a few findings about Durey Castings that we found interesting.

The report found that Durey Castings had a number of strengths recognised throughout the industry, namely its service, its relationships and capabilities in its key market, its brand strength and its agility to target new/growing markets.

Surprisingly, it found Durey's weakness to be its disregard of buying groups and its preference to negotiate competitive buying rates on its own. Obviously we don't see this as a weakness, rather a sucessfull method to allow us to offer high quality products at competitive rates. It also allows Dureys to offer products outside the limited buying group circles.

It's great to read a legitimate recognised report that positions Durey Castings amongst the top suppliers in the UK and with a recognition of its brand, customer service and capabilities.
